Virginia School Boards Association President Makes Roadshow
Stop at Petersburg City Public Schools

Charlottesville, VA – Earlier today, the Virginia School Boards Association (VSBA) President, Dr. Cardell Patillo, made a Roadshow stop to Petersburg City Public Schools. Dr. Patillo’s visit aimed to strengthen ties between the VSBA and local education institutions while gaining insights into the unique challenges and successes of Petersburg City’s school division.

The morning began with a tour of Westview Early Childhood Center where Dr. Patillo visited with students and explored the learning center’s sensory room, media center, and playground. Next, the group toured the Petersburg High School Career Center, highlighting the fashion design and cosmetology classes. The last stop on the tour was to Richard Bland College where Dr. Patillo learned more about the new lab school and upcoming summer STEM camps for Petersburg City students. While at the College, Dr. Patillo also toured the new Academic Innovation Center.

“My visit to Petersburg City Public Schools was truly magnificent,” stated Dr. Patillo. “Petersburg City has many great facilities and opportunities for students to learn and grow. I am impressed by all the work they have done to foster open and hands-on learning environments for all students. Thank you to Petersburg City Public Schools for hosting me and highlighting all the efforts of your school division.”

This was the 11th stop on the VSBA President’s Roadshow. Virginia school boards are encouraged to contact VSBA to be considered for a stop on the Roadshow.
