Regional School Board Member of the Year Announced at VSBA Annual Convention
Charlottesville, VA – This afternoon, at the opening session of the Virginia School Boards Association (VSBA) Annual Convention in Williamsburg, VA, Raymond Whitaker, a member of the Essex County School Board, was awarded the VSBA Eastern Regional School Board Member of the Year award in recognition of his boardsmanship qualities and active involvement in promoting student achievement. This award can be given to one school board member per VSBA region each year. This is the 22nd year that the award has been presented. This year’s sponsor is Grimm + Parker Architects.

His passion for education is indescribable and can be proven through 52+ dedicated years of service to educating our students, advocating on behalf of the constituents in his district and Virginia as an At-Large member of the VSBA Board of Directors. He is selfless and has a genuine love and concern for the welfare and education of all students, with the strong conviction that every student is entitled to the highest quality and equal educational opportunity.”
