This webinar is a must for all newly elected/appointed school board members as well as for anyone wanting to get a better understanding of their responsibilities when it comes to budget and finance for local school divisions.

There will also be an “odds and ends” of school division finance to include audits, school activity funds, quarterly reports, fund balances and misinformation when it comes to school budgets and finance.

Learning from Student Board Representatives and their Chairs: Enhancing Student Voice in School Leadership
This session will highlight the results of a recent study of the impact of Virginia student board representatives on school board functioning from the perspective of those students and their board chairs. In this study, survey and follow up interview data from student school board representatives and school board chairs provided insight into how the responding school districts incorporate student members into board processes and decision making. Summary findings and recommendations related to training, terms of service, input gathering, and student participation in the board agenda will be discussed.
