Amherst County and Campbell County School Board Members
Honored with VSBA Quarter Century Award
Celebrating 25 Years of Dedication to Public Education
Charlottesville, VA – At today’s awards luncheon during the Virginia School Boards Association (VSBA) Annual Convention, Priscilla Liggon of Amherst County Public Schools and Barry Jones of Campbell County Public Schools were honored with the prestigious VSBA Quarter Century Award, recognizing their remarkable 25 years of continuous service on their respective school boards. They were further celebrated during the Opening General Session, where attendees acknowledged their commitment to public education and community service. This year’s awards were graciously sponsored by Southland Industries.
Reflecting on his service, Jones shared, “Being a part of a Board that works together striving to see every student succeed is very rewarding. We work with our Superintendent, our Board of Supervisors and our County Administration to maintain modern school facilities that provide great learning environments in every facility. Watching our students succeed at all levels and ultimately walk across the stage at their graduation knowing they’re prepared for whatever they desire to pursue is tremendously gratifying.”
Liggon offered words of wisdom for new board members and aspiring leaders: “My advice for anyone coming into this business is to be yourself. Never waiver your heartfelt thoughts and remember this is for the kids and their future. Stay abreast of all changes in the school board business.”
