Virginia School Boards Association President Makes
Roadshow Stop at Surry County Public Schools
Charlottesville, VA – This morning, the Virginia School Boards Association (VSBA) President, Dr. Cardell Patillo, made a Roadshow stop to Surry County Public Schools. During his visit, Dr. Patillo had the opportunity to tour school division facilities and speak with educators and students alongside Surry County school board members.
The visit began at Surry Elementary School where Dr. Patillo and other tour attendees were able to observe and participate in Field Day activities with students. While there, Dr. Patillo learned about their Feed Our Future Backpack food program. The next stop was a tour at Luther Porter Jackson Middle School, where Dr. Patillo observed the school’s container/raised bed garden program. The morning’s visit ended with a tour of Surry County High School for a firsthand look at the school’s Agriculture Program, specifically the Hydro and Aquaponic Systems.
“My visit to Surry County Public Schools was truly inspiring,” stated Dr. Patillo. “Witnessing the dedication of educators and the enthusiasm of students reaffirms my belief in the transformative power of education. The collaborative spirit evident throughout the day underscores the importance of partnerships in driving positive change in our public schools.”
This was the 14th stop on the VSBA President’s Roadshow. Virginia school boards are encouraged to contact VSBA to be considered for a stop on the Roadshow.
